You can set up a room as a reception desk for unscheduled visits. This can be particularly useful when providing off-hours and urgent care services, or if your clinic allows drop-in visits.

Urgent Care and Walk-in Rooms

Set Up:

  1. create a shared room, and name it - for example, myClinicWalkIns

  2. assign all the providers and staff who will have access to the room

  3. ensure that everyone with access has their check-in notifications turned on

You can them make this shared room's link available to your patients - for example, you might add a button on your web site that links to the room, or add the link to your Clinic's email signature.

Workflow:

  1. Patient checks into the shared "reception" room

  2. Patient will appear in the queue of the person(s) assigned to the shared room

  3. If an assigned person such as a receptionist has Notifications turned on (recommended), they will be notified when someone checks in

  4. Receptionist starts the call with the patient.

  5. Using the Transfer Patient feature, the patient then could then be transferred to different room for an immediate appointment with a Provider or Nurse

  6. After the call, the Provider can transfer the patient back to the reception room.

NOTE: We highly recommend that you edit the waiting room information to state that if a patient is having an emergency, they need to call 911 or the emergency care number in the country where they live. You should also add the hours where you offer unscheduled visits.
