Providers and patients both benefit from the flexibility of accepting HSA and FSA card payments. In order to accept these types of payments, a provider must choose the appropriate Merchant Category Code when setting up their Stripe account.
To ensure your Stripe account is set up properly:
Navigate to Business Details
Under the Industry drop-down menu, choose Medical Services
Select Telemedicine/Telehealth (or another appropriate category)
Stripe will review the provider's account to ensure it is configured properly. If the correct MCC is used, HSA and FSA cards should be accepted. However, having the correct MCC does not guarantee a card will not be declined. Card issuers are still at liberty to authorize or decline any payment as they would with any other type of credit card.
