Enable Screen Share on MacOS

NOTE: It is not possible to screen share from mobile devices like a phone or a tablet at this time.

How to enable screen sharing

  1. Open System Preferences (+ space)

  2. Open Security & Privacy.

  3. Click on the padlock icon and allow access.

  4. Scroll down to Screen Recording

  5. Make sure your preferred browser is checked, and you'll be prompted to restart the browser.

Re-enabling Screen Share when Troubleshooting

Occasionally, a macOS update will lead to screen sharing functionality not working. If that is the case for you, please follow these steps to solve the problem. It should only take a couple of minutes.

  1. Click Command + Spacebar to open your Mac Spotlight Search. Once open, search for "System Preferences"

  2. Click on Security & Privacy

  3. Go into the Privacy tab and find "Screen Recording"

  4. Next, click on the padlock in the bottom left and enter your password. This will allow you to make the necessary changes.

  5. Then, click on the checked box to the left of Google Chrome. This will uncheck the box.

After unchecking the box, you will see the message shown below in the screenshot. Click on "Quit and Reopen" to close and reopen your Chrome browser.

After you restart the browser repeat steps 1-3 above and then check the box next to Chrome Browser. You will then need to "Quit and Reopen" one more time. Once you've done that, screen sharing will again work in doxy.me.
