NOTE: Teleconsent is only available on Professional, Clinic, and Enterprise accounts.

Using the standard teleconsent form, providers can get a patient’s consent to participate in telehealth appointments. Professional accounts and Clinic or Enterprise accounts that do not have custom forms also have access to additional consent forms. For Clinic accounts with custom consent forms, these additional consent forms will only be added to your account upon request.

When you Share a consent form with a patient, both you and your patient will see the document on your respective screens. While viewing the document together, only the provider is able to scroll through the document. This helps the patient follow along as the provider explains the main points. After completing the document, you and your patient will be able to download a copy of the signed consent form. This is a critical step since doxy.me does not store completed consent forms.

How to use teleconsent

Patient is in the waiting room (not on call)

  1. Navigate to the three dots menu () near the patient's name in the Patient Queue

  2. Click More

  3. Choose Teleconsent

  4. Click Share to display the document to your patient. You can also Preview the document before sharing.

    1. Pro tip: Because the patient is in the waiting room, it can be helpful to send them a chat message before sharing the consent form. For example, “I’m going to send you a consent form to sign. If you have any questions, we can discuss them after we start the call.”

  5. Scroll through the document, complete any necessary fields, and invite the patient to sign

  6. Click Finalize Document

  7. Press Download at the bottom right

  8. Close the window by pressing X at the top right of the document. The patient’s window will remain open until he/she has closed the document.

You are now able to start your patient’s session, knowing that their paperwork is already completed.

Patient is already in a call

  1. Choose Teleconsent in the left sidebar

  2. Click Share to display the consent form for both you and your patient

  3. Review the document, complete any necessary fields, and invite the patient to sign

  4. Click Finalize Document

  5. Press Download at the bottom right

  6. Close the window by pressing X at the top right of the document. The patient’s window will remain open until he/she has closed the document.

Sharing consent forms during a call allows you to walk your patient through any questions or concerns. Once signed, you are ready to start the session.

Troubleshooting

  1. "I can't download the finalized consent form."

    1. If you are using EMDRremote, this will block your ability to download finalized consent forms. In order to download, you will first need to close out of EMDRremote.

NOTE: Teleconsent is available by default to Professional, Clinic, and Enterprise accounts. Clinic accounts can create up to five custom teleconsent forms for an additional $250 fee. Just email your request to sales@doxy.me to get started.
